‘Silver and gold have I none, but such as I have give I thee.’ Peter’s well-known words to a lame man on the temple steps who was about to receive total healing ‘In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth’. Interesting question arises. The beggar thought he knew what he needed to survive. Peter offered something that would change this man’s life for ever. What, beyond practical, loving care, do we have to give? Some might say this healing cost Peter nothing, but step by difficult step, he was laying down treasured certainties and thereby creating space for the crucial and sometimes miraculous work of the Spirit. This week we’ll explore this painful, exciting process as it happened to the big fisherman and face the challenges and opportunities it might present to us.
